Stone Tools Influenced Hand Evolution in Human Ancestors, Anthropologists Say
This article is based on research done by anthropologists at the University of Kent. The researchers confirmed Darwin’s speculation that the evolution of the human hand was influenced by the use of stone tools by our ancestors. The unique features, which are believed to have evolved, are certain features in the bones and musculature of the hand and wrist. The researchers suggest that our hands have evolved by natural selection as a result of using simple cutting tools. The gipping of the tools have naturally evolved our hands. The researchers say the cultural behavior of our ancestors has influenced biological evolution in many ways.
This research is great as it helps us better understand where we came from and the natural wonders of evolution. Currently, we aren’t certain of were we exactly came from but with the new information we obtain everyday, we are getting closer to the answer. This research is very important as it helps us understand the phenomenon around us. It helps us understand how differed species develop and how we, humans have advanced biologically since we first appeared. We are advancing in technology everyday but another advancement is our evolutionary advancements. We are slowly perfecting our body to fit our daily activities and this research is proof of that.

Lungfish Provides Insight to Life On Land: 'Humans Are Just Modified Fish'
This article is on a study into muscle development of several different fish. This study has given the researchers insights into the genetics that led to the evolution of hind legs which gave rise to tetrapods, our distant ancestor. Scientists did this research to fill big gaps of knowledge. They have seen the preserved fossils but the locomotion muscles are not preserved in fossils. They examined a few different species of fish including lungfish and found that the bony fish formed pelvic fin muscle differently from the cartilaginous fish. This mechanism was a step toward the evolution of the tetrapod and they concluded the article with the statement that “Humans are just modified fish.” They said the genome of fish and humans is very similar. Also the formation of the pelvic fin muscle is the same in our ancestor, the tetrapod.
I love reading article such as this because they provide us with knowledge of how humans came to be. I have always had an interest in the history of humans and that is why I enjoy these articles. Research like this interest me beause I want to know where we came from. What challenges we went through? Why we look the way we do? I want to find answers to these questions and this article provides us with part answers. This article provided me with a different point of view. The idea that “ humans are jus modified fish.” That statement fascinates me. It makes me want to know more. Hopefully research like this continues so we can learn more about the human history.
