· A French-Canadian anatomist and cell biologist
· Pioneer in cell biology
· First to use technique called radio autography, which is a method where you put thin sections of tissues containing radioactive substances in contact with a photographic emulsion. When examined with a microscope it revealed radioactivity.
· Discovered that iodine is stored by the thyroid gland and release to other organs over a few days
· Researched the role of phosphates in ones (1940)
· Used this method to research the renewal of tissue components.
· Wrote over 350 scientific articles
